Physiotherapist → Engineer

I loved the idea of helping people achieve their goals. But I have always been a nerd, and in the end that won.

I loved everything that had to do with sports and loved the idea of helping people achieve their goals. On the other hand, I have always been a nerd and a tinkerer, and was therefore also considering becoming an engineer. I chose physiotherapy, but throughout the education I realized that I missed tinkering and that it lacked some depth. Thus I chose to combine engineering with the healthcare sector and started studying BEng Healthcare Technology after having finished my BSc in Physiotherapy. I had an idea about how I would make robots for the healthcare sector, but it turned out that I just fell in love with programming and software engineering right from the start. Therefore I also ended up with an MSc in Computer Engineering — and I haven’t looked back since. That said, the years as a physiotherapist weren’t wasted: a lot of it was about helping people reach their goals, and that is still a big part of what I do today.
